The Cougar Mech-Thruster™ is designed to enhance drilling performance. Downhole vibrations are reduced, bit life is extended, and ROP is increased.
The Cougar Mech-Thruster™ is your best choice for directional and horizontal drilling performance. It is available in several sizes and can be adjusted to any specification.
When running a Mech-Thruster™, parameters do not change from your standard assembly parameters. There are no changes in pump pressure, flow, weight on bit, or speed.
In comparing the Mech-Thruster™ to shock subs, shock subs are relatively stiff and operate with 2-6 inches of stroke which limits their operation to a narrow range of weight on bit values.
The long stroke of the Mech-Thruster™ will provide constant weight on bit, allowing it to drill ahead independent of the non-uniform motions of the drill string sticking and slipping as it moves forward.
When running with a motor, the Mech-Thruster™ can help increase the reliability of driveshafts and power sections by reducing the chances of stalling the motor.
A program is available for Mech-Thruster™ placement to provide optimum performance by using the given drilling parameters and selected location in the BHA.

With the use of the Cougar Mech-Thruster™, reactive torque becomes more manageable, reducing stalling and eliminating motor damages and reducing MWD failures. In many cases in directional applications, the Cougar Mech-Thruster™ has made steering easier.
The Mech-Thruster’s™ adjustable spring rate and long stroke has made this tool an essential part of many drill strings. While running the Mech-Thruster™ downhole, there is less overall damage to the drill string components. It has been recognized to increase bit life so you can keep the bit on bottom longer which means fewer trips.
