The dependability of the Mechanical Lock (Latch) mechanism of the Cougar Tool DJ-6 Hydraulic Drilling Jar, but now with the capacity to jar down with a Hydraulic Delay. All Cougar Tool Drilling Jars have an internal locking mechanism that eliminates the necessity of a “Safety Collar” found on many others. The internal lock eliminates tool misfiring, or firing while making connections.

Simple two way mechanical and hydraulic operation

The two way action of the jar gives the operator the ability to jar up and down hydraulically. A mechanical latch ensures the jar will not accidentally fire while tripping or making connections. Hydraulic operation up and down allows the customer to utilize pipe stretch and collar mass to assist in creating massive jar impacts.  Down jarring is achieved mechanically and hydraulically by overcoming the downward lock setting, allowing the jar to fire down using the string weight above the jar
